What is a ROC?
A Resident Owned Community (ROC) is a neighborhood where homeowners collectively own the property as a cooperative. Residents establish their own community rules and bylaws, which follow state and federal laws. Through democratic voting, homeowners decide on improvements, lot rent, and other key issues, giving them control over costs and the living environment - without answering to a for-profit owner.
Living in a ROC is ideal for those who have a heart for community service. A volunteer Board of Directors, made up of residents, ensures decisions reflect the needs of everyone. Together, homeowners work to create a safe, supportive, and thriving community, with the added security of land ownership.
